SUMMARY

In 2020, the import quota for salt is 110,000 tons

On January 22, 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issues the Circular No. 02/2020/TT-BCT prescribing the principle of administering the import of salt and birds’ eggs under the 2020 tariff quotas.

Accordingly, volumes of the 2020 import tariff quotas shall be specified as follows:

Firstly, fowls’ egg (code: 0407.21.00 and 0407.90.10); ducks’ egg (code: 0407.29.10 and 0407.90.20); other (coed: 0407.29.90 and 0407.90.90): 57,940 dozens (unfertilized eggs).

Secondly, salt (code: 2501): 110,000 tons.

Within that, the allocation of import tariff quotas for salt and birds’ eggs must comply with the Circular No. 12/2018/TT-BCT and the Decree No. 69/2018/ND-CP. Import tariff quotas for salt shall be allocated to traders for direct use as materials for production of chemicals and drugs and medical products.

Besides, import tariff quotas for birds’ egg shall be allocated to traders who possess a business registration certificate or enterprise registration certificate and wish to import birds’ eggs.

This Circular takes effect on February 29, 2020.

CIRCULAR

Prescribing the principle of administering the import of salt and birds’ eggs under the 2020 tariff quotas[1]

Pursuant to the Government’s Decree No. 98/2017/ND-CP of August 18, 2017, defining the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Industry and Trade;

Pursuant to the Government’s Decree No. 69/2018/ND-CP of May 15, 2018, detailing a number of articles of the Law on Foreign Trade Management;

At the proposal of the Director General of the Agency of Foreign Trade;

The Minister of Industry and Trade promulgates the Circular prescribing the principle of administering the import of salt and birds’ eggs under the 2020 tariff quotas.

Article 2.Principle of allocation ofimporttariff quotas

The allocation of import tariff quotas for salt and birds’ eggs must comply with the Minister of Industry and Trade’s Circular No. 12/2018/TT-BCT of June 15, 2018, detailing a number of articles of the Law on Foreign Trade Management and the Government’s Decree No. 69/2018/ND-CP of May 15, 2018, detailing a number of articles of the Law on Foreign Trade Management.

Article 3.Subjects to be allocated import tariff quotas

1. Import tariff quotas for salt shall be allocated to traders for direct use as materials for production of chemicals and drugs and medical products.

2. Import tariff quotas for birds’ egg shall be allocated to traders who possess a business registration certificate or enterprise registration certificate and wish to import birds’ eggs.

Article 4.Time for allocation of import tariff quotas

The Ministry of Industry and Trade shall exchange opinions with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Ministry of Finance to determine the time for allocation of import tariff quotas for salt.

Article 5.Effect

This Circular takes effect from February 29, 2020, through December 31, 2020.-
