NOTICE

On the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday schedule for cadres, civil servants, public employees, and employees

 

Pursuant to the direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in the Government Office's Official Dispatch No. 9859/VPCP-KGVX dated October 13, 2025, regarding the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday schedule, and provisions of Clause 2, Article 7 of Decree No. 128/2025/ND-CP1, the Minister of Home Affairs hereby notifies administrative agencies, non-business units, political organizations, socio-political organizations, enterprises, and other employers to implement the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday schedule as follows:

1. Cadres, civil servants, public employees, and employees of administrative agencies, non-business units, political organizations, and socio-political organizations (hereinafter collectively referred to as civil servants and public employees) shall be entitled to the Lunar New Year holiday in 2026 as follows: A total of 05 days off as prescribed, including 01 day before Lunar New Year and 04 days after Lunar New Year, from Monday, February 16, 2026 (Gregorian calendar) (i.e., the 29th day of the twelfth lunar month of the Year of Yisi (Snake)) to the end of Friday, February 20, 2026 (Gregorian calendar) (i.e., the 4th day of the first lunar month of the Year of Bingwu (Horse)).

2. Civil servants and public employees shall be entitled to the National Day holiday in 2026 as follows: A total of 02 days off as prescribed, including Wednesday, September 02, 2026 (Gregorian calendar) and 01 adjacent preceding day, being Tuesday, September 01, 2026 (Gregorian calendar); Working day substitution shall be applied by transferring the working day from Monday, August 31, 2026 (Gregorian calendar) to the weekly day off of Saturday, August 22, 2026 (Gregorian calendar) (i.e., off on Monday, August 31, 2026, and working on Saturday, August 22, 2026).

3. Agencies and units implementing the 2026 Lunar New Year and National Day holiday schedule shall arrange on-duty staff in accordance with regulations and organize work in a reasonable manner to ensure continuous handling of work and proper service to organizations and the People; special attention shall be paid to assigning cadres and civil servants on duty to handle urgent and unexpected matters that may arise during the holiday period according to regulations.

4. Ministries, agencies, and localities shall develop specific and appropriate plans and measures to encourage units, enterprises, organizations, and individuals to proactively and actively implement measures to develop production and business, economic and social activities, ensure the balance of supply and demand of goods and services, stabilize prices and markets, contribute to promoting economic growth, and practice thrift and prevent waste before, during, and after the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday.

5. Agencies and units that do not have a fixed schedule of weekly days off on Saturday and Sunday shall, based on their specific programs and plans, arrange appropriate schedule in accordance with the law.

6. Employees who are not subject to Clause 1 of this Notice, shall decide and select the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday plan as follows:

- Lunar New Year holiday: Choose one of the following options: 01 day off at the end of the Year of Yisi (Snake) and 04 days off at the beginning of the Year of Bingwu (Horse); or 02 days off at the end of the Year of Yisi (Snake) and 03 days off at the beginning of the Year of Bingwu (Horse); or 03 days off at the end of the Year of Yisi (Snake) and 02 days off at the beginning of the Year of Bingwu (Horse).

- National Day holiday: Take leave on Wednesday, September 02, 2026 (Gregorian calendar) and choose 01 of the following 02 days: Tuesday, September 01, 2026, or Thursday, September 03, 2026 (Gregorian calendar).

- Notify employees of the 2026 Lunar New Year and National Day holiday plan at least 30 days before implementation.

- If a weekly day off coincides with a prescribed public holiday or Lunar New Year holiday as specified in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, employees shall be entitled to a compensatory day off on the next working day in accordance with Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

- Employers are encouraged to apply the 2026 Lunar New Year and National Day holiday schedule to employees in the same manner as applicable to civil servants and public employees; more favorable agreements for employees are encouraged.

7. Other public holiday leaves shall comply with the Labor Code.

The Minister of Home Affairs respectfully notifies agencies, organizations, enterprises, employers, and the People for information and convenience in contacting and handling work./.
