Ordinance No. 08/2008/PL-UBTVQH12 dated December 27, 2008 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly amending Article 10 of the population ordinance

ORDINANCE

AMENDING ARTICLE 10 OF THE POPULATION ORDINANCE

Pursuant to the 1992 Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, which as amended and supplemented under Resolution No. 51/2001/ QH10;

Pursuant to Resolution No. 27/2008/QH12 on the 2009 law- and ordinance-making program and supplementing the law- and ordinance-making program of the Xll'1' National Assembly (2007-2011 legislature); promulgates the Ordinance Amending Article 10 of Population Ordinance No. 06/2003/PL-UBTVQH11.

Article 1. To amend Article 10 of the 2003 Population Ordinance as follows:

"Article 10. Rights and obligations of each couple or individual in carrying out the movement for population and family planning and reproductive healthcare:

1. To decide on the time to have babies and the interval between child births:

2. To have one child or two children, except particular cases stipulated by the Government;

3. To protect their health, apply measures to prevent reproductively infectious diseases, sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS and fulfill other obligations related to reproductive health."

Article 2. Effect

This Ordinance takes effect on February 1, 2009.
