Vietnam has entered into the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) since 1994. According to CITES and the Government's Decree No. 82/2006/NĐ-CP dated August 10, 2006 on the management of export, import, re-export, import by sea, transit, breeding, propagation, and culture of endangered and rare wild fauna and flora, every import of species in CITES appendices must obtain the license issued by the CITES agency of the exporting country and the import license issued by the CITES of Vietnam; the breeding facilities in CITES appendices must be registered with competent authorities.
