CIRCULAR
REGULATING THE LIST OF FOOD PERMITTED FOR IRRADIATION AND MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE ABSORBED DOSE FOR FOOD UNDER THE MANAGEMENT SCOPE OF THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT
Pursuant to the Decree No.01/2008/ND-CP dated January 03, 2008 of the Government regulating functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Decree No.75/2009/ND-CP dated September 10, 2009 of the Government amending Article 3 of Decree No.01/2008/ND-CP dated January 03, 2008;
Pursuant to the Food Safety Law No.55/2010/QH12, passed by the XII National Assembly on June 17, 2010 and entered into force from July 01, 2011;
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development promulgates the List of foods permitted for irradiation and allowable absorbed dose for foods irradiated under its management scope as follows:
Article 1.To promulgate together with this Circular the List of foods permitted for irradiation and the maximum allowable absorbed dose for foods under the management scope of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Article 2. Interpretation of terms
1. Absorbed dose: means the ratio between de and dm, which de is the average absorbed energy (in jun) that the ionizing radiation transmits to a volume of food and dm is a volume of food (in kilogram).
2. Maximum allowable absorbed dose: means the highest absorbed dose value that is allowed to apply for each kind of food to be permitted for irradiation. The unit of absorbed dose is Gray (Gy), 1 Gy = 1j/kg, 1kGy=1000 Gy.
Article 3. Effect
1. This Circular shall take effect forty five (45) days after its signing date.
2. This List shall be reviewed, modified, and supplemented depending on management requirements. During its execution, if any problems arise, agencies, organizations and individuals should promptly report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (through the Quality Management Department of Agriculture and Forestry Products and Fisheries) for consideration, settlement.
3. The Chief Office of Ministry, Director of Quality Management Department of Agriculture and Forestry Products and Fisheries, the heads of units under the Ministry, concerned organizations and individuals shall implement this Circular. /.
