DECISION
On downgrading the acute respiratory infection caused by new strains of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) from class-A infectious disease to class-B infectious disease in the 2007 Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases

THE MINISTER OF HEALTH
Pursuant to the Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases dated November 21, 2007;
Pursuant to the Government's Decree No. 95/2022/ND-CP dated November 15, 2022, on defining the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Health;
Based on the danger, transmissibility and percentage of deaths of COVID-19;
At the proposal of Director of the General Department of Preventive Medicine, the Ministry of Health.
DECIDES:
Article 1. To downgrade the acute respiratory infection caused by new strains of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) from class-A infectious disease to class-B infectious disease defined at Point b Clause 1 and Clause 2 Article 3 of the 2007 Law on Infectious Disease Prevention and Control.
Article 2. Activities of prevention and control of COVID-19 shall be carried out in accordance with the Law on Infectious Disease Prevention and Control for class-B infectious diseases.
Article 3. This Decision takes effect from October 20, 2023. The Ministry of Health’s Decision No. 219/QD-BYT dated January 29, 2020, on adding the acute respiratory infection caused by new strains of novel Coronavirus (nCoV) to the List of class-A infectious diseases defined in the 2007 Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases ceases to be effective from the effective date of this Decision.
Article 4. The Chief of Ministry Office; the Chief of Inspectorate of Ministry; Directors of Departments and Administrations of the Ministry of Health; Directors of Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and Pasteur Institute; Directors of medical examination and treatment establishments of the Ministry of Health; Directors of Health Departments of provinces and centrally-run cities; Heads of medical units of ministries and branches; Heads of relevant units shall be responsible for the implementation of this Decision./.
