SUMMARY

COVID-19 is classified into class-B disease

On October 19, 2023, the Prime Minister issues Decision No. 26/2023/QD-TTg amending the Appendix providing the average incubation period and the required period of no new infections to serve as a basis for announcing that an infectious epidemic is over promulgated together with the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 02/2016/QD-TTg of January 28, 2016, specifying conditions for announcing infectious epidemic outbreaks and that infectious epidemics are over.

Accordingly, to add the class, average incubation period and required period of no new infections for COVID-19 epidemic (formerly known as acute respiratory infection caused by a new coronavirus strain). Specifically, COVID-19 is classified into class-B disease with the average incubation period of 4 days and the required period of no new infections of 8 days.

This Decision takes effect on October 20, 2023.

DECISION

Amending the Appendix providing the average incubation period and the repeat infection timeframe to serve as a basis for announcing the end of an infectious epidemic promulgated together with the Prime Minister’s Decision. No. 02/2016/QD-TTg of January 28, 2016, specifying conditions for announcing outbreaks of infectious epidemics and the end of infectious epidemics[1]

 

Pursuant to the June 19, 2015 Law on Organization of the Government; and the November 22, 2019 Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Organization of the Government and the Law on Organization of Local Administration;

 Pursuant to the November 21, 2007 Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases;

 At the proposal of the Minister of Health;

The Prime Minister promulgates the Decision amending the Appendix providing the average incubation period and the repeat infection timeframe to serve as a basis for announcing the end of an infectious epidemic promulgated together with the Prime Minister’s Decision. No. 02/2016/QD-TTg of January 28, 2016, specifying conditions for announcing outbreaks of infectious epidemics and the end of infectious epidemics (below referred to as Decision No. 02/2016/QD-TTg) 

 

Article 1. To amend the Appendix providing the average incubation period and the repeat infection timeframe to serve as a basis for announcing the end of an infectious epidemic promulgated together with Decision. No. 02/2016/QD-TTg

To add the class, average incubation period and repeat infection timeframe for COVID-19 epidemic (formerly known as acute respiratory infection caused by a new coronavirus strain) in the Appendix providing the average incubation period and the repeat infection timeframe to serve as a basis for announcing the end of an infectious epidemic promulgated together with Decision No. 02/2016/QD-TTg.

Article 2. Effect

1. This Decision takes effect on October 20, 2023.

2. The Prime Minister’s Decision No. 07/2020/QD-TTg of February 26, 2020, amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decision. No. 02/2016/QD-TTg, ceases to be effective from the effective date of this Decision.

Article 3. Organization of implementation

Ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies, heads of government-attached agencies, chairpersons of provincial-level People’s Committees, and related organizations and individuals shall implement this Decision.-
