SUMMARY

The Prime Minister officially declares COVID-19 a national epidemic

On April 01, 2020, the Prime Minister issues the Decision No. 447/QD-TTg on announcement of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Accordingly, to declare COVID-19 an infectious epidemic in Vietnam (the acute respiratory infections caused by new strains of Coronavirus).

Specifically, the time of outbreak is defined from January 23, 2020 (the time of detecting the first case infected with the acute respiratory infections caused by new strains of Coronavirus). So far, the disease has occurred on a national scale.

Concurrently, the Prime Minister also classifies the COVID-19 as a class A infectious disease of global emergency that can transmit from human to human through respiratory system.

This Decision takes effect on the signing date.

THE PRIME MINISTER

Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated June 19, 2015;

Pursuant to the Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases dated November 21, 2007;

Pursuant to the Prime Minister's Decision No. 02/2016/QD-TTg dated January 28, 2016 on conditions for announcement of epidemics and their termination;

Pursuant to the Prime Minister's Decision No. 07/2020/QD-TTg dated February 26, 2020 on amending and supplementing a number of Articles of the Prime Minister's Decision No. 02/2016/QD-TTg dated January 28, 2016 on conditions for announcement of epidemics and their termination;

At the proposal of the Ministry of Health in the Report No. 525/TTr-BYT dated March 31, 2020,

DECIDES:

Article 1. To declare an infectious epidemic in Vietnam

1. Epidemic: COVID-19 (the acute respiratory infections caused by new strains of Coronavirus).

2. Time of outbreak: January 23, 2020 (the time of detecting the first case infected with the acute respiratory infections caused by new strains of Coronavirus).

3. Location and scale: Nationwide.
