Decision 219/QD-BYT 2020 add the acute respiratory infection caused by nCoV to the List of class-A infectious diseases

DECISION

On adding the acute respiratory infection caused by new strains of novel Coronavirus (nCoV) to the List of class-A infectious diseases defined in the 2007 Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases

THE MINISTER OF HEALTH

Pursuant to the 2007 Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases;

Pursuant to the Government's Decree No. 75/2017/ND-CP dated June 20, 2017 on defining the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Health;

Based on the danger, transmissibility and percentage of deaths of the acute respiratory infections caused by new strains of nCoV;

At the proposal of Director of the General Department of Preventive Medicine, the Ministry of Health,

DECIDES:

Article 1. To add the acute respiratory infection caused by nCoV to the List of class-A infectious diseases defined at Point a, Clause 1 and Clause 2, Article 3 the 2007 Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases.

Article 2. Activities of prevention and control of the acute respiratory infection caused by nCoV shall be carried out in accordance with regulations on extremely dangerous infectious diseases that can transmit very rapidly and spread widely with high percentage of deaths (of class A as specified in the 2007 Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases).

Article 3. This Decision takes effect on the signing date.

Article 4. The Chief of Ministry Office; the Chief of Inspectorate of Ministry; Directors and General Directors of Departments and General Departments of the Ministry of Health; Directors of Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and Pasteur Institute; Directors of medical examination and treatment establishments of the Ministry of Health; Directors of Health Departments of provinces and cities; Heads of medical units of ministries and branches; Heads of relevant units shall be responsible for the implementation of this Decision./.
