SUMMARY

Import tariff-rate quotas for salt and birds’ eggs in 2024

On December 22, 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issues Circular No. 37/2023/TT-BCT providing for import tariff-rate quotas for salt and birds’ eggs in 2024. Specifically as follows:

1. Quantity of import tariff-rate quotas for salt and birds’ eggs in 2024 as follows:

- Fowls’ eggs; Ducks’ eggs and other: 68.670 Dozen;

- Salt (including table salt and denatured salt) and pure sodium chloride, whether or not in aqueous solution or containing anti-caking or free-flowing agents; seawater: 88,000 Ton.

2. The allocation of import tariff-rate quotas for salt and birds’ eggs in 2024 must comply with the method specified in Decree No. 69/2018/ND-CP and Circular No. 12/2018/TT-BCT.

This Circular takes effect from February 06, 2024, to the end of December 31, 2024.

CIRCULAR

Providing the import tariff-rate quotas for salt and birds’ eggs in 2024[1]

Pursuant to the 2017 Law on Foreign Trade Management;

Pursuant to the Government’s Decree No. 96/2022/ND-CP of November 29, 2022, defining the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Industry and Trade;

Pursuant to the Government’s Decree No. 69/2018/ND-CP of May 15, 2018, detailing a number of articles of the Law on Foreign Trade Management;

Pursuant to the Government’s Decree No. 26/2023/ND-CP of May 31, 2023, promulgating the Export Tariff Schedule, the Preferential Import Tariff Schedule, and the List of commodities and their absolute, mixed, and out-of-quota import duty rates;

At the proposal of the Director General of the Agency of Foreign Trade;

The Minister of Industry and Trade promulgates the Circular providing the import tariff-rate quotas for salt and birds’ eggs in 2024.

Article 2. Methods of allocation of import tariff-rate quotas for salt and birds’ eggs in 2024

The methods of allocation of import tariff-rate quotas for salt and birds’ eggs in 2024 must comply with the Government’s Decree No. 69/2018/ND-CP of May 15, 2018, detailing a number of articles of the Law on Foreign Trade Management, and the Minister of Industry and Trade’s Circular No. 12/2018/TT-BCT of June 15, 2018, detailing a number of articles of the Law on Foreign Trade Management and the Government’s Decree No. 69/2018/ND-CP of May 15, 2018, detailing a number of articles of the Law on Foreign Trade Management.

Article 3. Subjects eligible for allocation of import tariff-rate quotas for salt and birds’ eggs in 2024

1. Import tariff-rate quotas for salt shall be allocated to traders that use salt as materials for production of drugs, medical products and chemicals.

2. Import tariff-rate quotas for birds’ eggs shall be allocated to traders that wish to import birds’ eggs.

Article 4. Time for allocation of import tariff-rate quotas for salt and birds’ eggs in 2024

The Ministry of Industry and Trade shall exchange opinions with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to determine the time for allocation of import tariff-rate quotas for salt and birds’ eggs in 2024.

Article 5. Effect

This Circular takes effect from February 6, 2024, through December 31, 2024.-
