From October 16, 2024, Vietnam ceases to provide 2G network services

The Ministry of Information and Communications issues Circular No. 10/2024/TT-BTTTT, dated September 13, 2024, which effectively delays the cessation of 2G services and specifies that the GSM mobile communications systems using the frequency bands from 1,710-1,785 MHz, 1,805-1,880 MHz, 880-915 MHz, and 925-960 MHz will cease to supply 2G network services.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Information and Communications shall cease providing service for terminal devices supporting only 2G, starting September 16, 2024, and postpone the shutdown to October 15, 2024.

From October 16, 2024, the Circular No. 03/2024/TT-BTTTT and the Circular No. 04/2024/TT-BTTTT shall continue to take effect.

Therefore, the 2G network services of 2G-Only mobile phones shall be postponed from October 16, 2024, except to receive, and transmit among devices or services in DK platforms, Parcel Islands, Spratly Islands.

This temporary suspension of the 2G shutdown is to ensure the necessity of information during this period and allow people and businesses to prepare for the damages caused by the Yagi storm.
