Formally: Decree on region-based minimum wage from July 01, 2022

On June 12, 2022, the Government issues Decree No. 38/2022/ND-CP prescribing the region-based minimum wages paid to employees working under employment contracts. This Decree takes effect on July 20, 2022.

The Decree 38 has adjustments to increase the region-based minimum wages in 04 regions as follows:

- Region I increases by VND 260,000: From VND 4.42 million/month to VND 4.68 million/month

- Region II increases by VND 240,000: From VND 3.92 million/month to VND 4.16 million/month

- Region III increases by VND 210,000: From VND 3.43 million/month to VND 3.64 million/month

- Region IV increases by VND 180,000: From VND 3.07 million/month to VND 3.25 million/month

Therefore, the minimum wage per month increases from VND 180,000 to VND 260,000 from July 01, 2022.

On hourly minimum wage, this Decree also prescribes the minimum wages per hour in 04 regions (the region is defined to be the working places of the employees);

- Region I increases by VND 22,500/hour.

- Region II increases by VND 20,000/hour.

- Region III increases by VND 17,500/hour

- Region I increases by VND 15,600/hour. 

Within that:

- Hourly minimum wage levels: The hourly minimum wage level is the minimum basis for agreement and payment for employees in the form of hourly wage payment, ensure the job- or title-based wage amount within one hour and finish the agree to works but must not be lower than the hourly minimum wage level.

-  Monthly region-based minimum wages: The monthly region-based minimum wage is the minimum wage used as the basis for any agreement between employers and employees on monthly salary and payment thereof. The job- or title-based wage amount of an employee who ensures the monthly normal working hours and has fulfilled his/her labor productivity norms or tasks as agreed shall not be lower than the monthly region-based minimum wage.
