Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of, and the Appendix on the List of National Statistical Indicators to, the Statistics Law

Pursuant the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam;

The National Assembly promulgates the Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of, and the Appendix on the List of National Statistical Indicators to, Statistics Law No. 89/2015/QH13.

Article 1. To amend and supplement a number of articles of, and the Appendix on the List of national statistical indicators to, the Statistics Law

1. To amend and supplement Clause 6, Article 17 as follows:

“6. The Minister of Planning and Investment shall assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with ministries, sectors and localities in, performing the following tasks:

a/ Formulating, and submitting to the Government for promulgation, contents of statistical indicators belonging to the national statistical indicator system; and the process of compilation of the indicator of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the indicator of Gross Regional Domestic Product of provinces and centrally run cities;

b/ Guiding, examining and reporting on the application of the national statistical indicator system;

c/ Once every 5 years, reviewing the scale of GDP and reporting it to the Government for submitting to the National Assembly for consideration and decision on re-evaluation of the scale of GDP.”.

2. To amend and supplement Point d, Clause 2, Article 48 as follows:

“d/ Heads of provincial-level statistics offices shall publicize statistical information belonging to the provincial-, district- and commune-level systems of statistical indicators; for statistical information belonging to provincial-level statistical indicators which are groupings of national statistical indicators, it is required to reach consensus regarding professional operations with the central statistics office before publicization.”.

3. To replace the Appendix on the List of national statistical indicators to Statistics Law No. 89/2015/QH13 with the Appendix on the List of national statistical indicators to this Law.

Article 2. Implementation provisions

1. This Law takes effect on January 1, 2022.

2. The national statistical survey program and national-level statistical reporting regime serving the compilation of the statistical indicators provided in the Appendix on the List of national statistical indicators to Statistics Law No. 89/2015/QH13 shall continue to be implemented through December 31, 2022.-

This Law was passed on November 12, 2021, by the XV^th National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at its 2^nd session.-
