SUMMARY

To pilot grant of e-visas for foreigners from 35 countries entering Vietnam

On February 1, 2019, the Government issues the Decree No. 17/2019/ND-CP on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Government’s Decree No. 07/2017/ND-CP of January 25, 2017, prescribing the order and procedures for pilot grant of e-visas for foreigners entering Vietnam.

Noticeably is the change of the list of countries whose citizens are eligible for pilot grant of e-visas. To be specific, from February 01, 2019, this List includes 35 countries instead of 40 as before. These countries are Austria, Iceland, Belgium, Portugal, Brazil, and Switzerland…

Besides, this Decree also  supplement the list of border gates which permit foreigners’ entry into and exit ;from Vietnam with e-visas, the list includes Tay Trang International Border Gate (Dien Bien province); La Lay International Border Gate (Quang Tri province); Duong Dong Port Border Gate (Kien Giang province); Chan May Port Border Gate (Thua Thien - Hue province)…

This Decree takes effect on February 01, 2019.

DECREE

Amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Government’s Decree No. 07/2017/ND-CP of January 25, 2017, prescribing the order and procedures for pilot grant of e-visas for foreigners entering Vietnam

Pursuant to the June 19, 2015 Law on Organization of the Government;

Pursuant to the June 22, 2015 Law on Promulgation of Legal Documents;

Pursuant to the June 16, 2014 Law on Foreigners’ Entry into, Exit from, Transit through and Residence in Vietnam;

Pursuant to the November 29, 2005 Law on E-Transactions;

Pursuant to the June 29, 2006 Law on Information Technology;

Pursuant to Resolution No. 30/2016/QH14 of November 22, 2016, on the pilot grant of e-visas for foreigners entering Vietnam;

Pursuant to Resolution No. 74/2018/QH14 of November 20, 2018, on the sixth session of the XIVth National Assembly;

At the proposal of the Minister of Public Security,

The Government promulgates the Decree amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Government’s Decree No. 07/2017/ND-CP of January 25, 2017, prescribing the order and procedures for pilot grant of e-visas for foreigners entering Vietnam.

Article 1. To amend and supplement a number of articles of the Government’s Decree No. 07/2017/ND-CP of January 25, 2017, prescribing the order and procedures for pilot grant of e-visas for foreigners entering Vietnam

1. To amend and supplement the list of countries whose citizens are eligible for pilot grant of e-visas (Appendix I) and the list of border gates permitting foreigners’ entry into and exit from Vietnam with e-visas (Appendix II) provided in Clause 1 of Article 9 as follows:
